No more Bolder,
As the year comes to an end, so does our time together at Bolder. On monday 2.1.2012 I’ve started at my new job at N2.
This Blog is a place for gathering topics and findings that are professionally interesting to me, but also a place for less serious reflections about my daily encounters with the digital world.

We are building a rear projection touchscreen hardware/software setup for an art installation. Our group consists of three people: media artist Heidi Tikka, architect Jaakko Pesonen and myself. I will post updates on the stages of the project in this thread.

Here’s a small example Flash file for getting the number of likes, shares and mentions of any Url from Facebook, using a FQL http query.
I tried taking some free lens macro photos. I used a 52mm solid lens that I held backwards in front of my Nikon D7000.
Jakob Nielsen and Raluca Budiu, recently published the 2nd edition of their report on the usability of iPad apps and websites. You can find it online here. The 129 page report uses a set of casestudies to illustrate the dos and don’ts of designing content for the iPad. It also offers some good general insight on designing for touch screen devices.

Designing logos for companies has a lot in common with designing interface icons. Specially when it comes to pictorial logos, like those of Apple, Twitter or Lacoste. These logos are recognizable literal images that have been simplified and stylized (Wheeler, Designing Brand Identity).
I just read this article by Katalin Szabó which “provides a glimpse into the world of metaphors and how they can be used in user interface design”.
