I just finished reading Pekka Hartikainen’s thesis: “The Use of Storytelling in Music Artist Promotion”. It’s a study that describes how contemporary musicians are becoming increasingly active and available for their fans, and using storytelling to build their character. Hartikainen also suggests strategies for artist promotion and storytelling in todays media world.

The thesis is probably the most enjoyable I’ve read, with intriguing real life case studies and some good insights from Pekka himself. If You’re at all interested in artist promotion and/or storytelling it’s definitely worth checking out.
